The Office of the Youth Organization for the United Nations of Africa in Haiti (BOJNUAH), in partnership with Sco Tour, proceeded on Thursday, March 10 to the Launch at Quisqueya University of the Black Summit in Port-au-Prince, around the theme: Historical contribution of Blacks in the construction of the world.
Through this activity which brought together professors, researchers, socio-professionals, former Haitian scholarship holders in Africa and students, the initiators intend to strengthen the links between Haiti and Africa, as well as the promotion of African values and Afro-descendence according to the organizers.
Conference-debate, film screening, talk: these are some of the activities planned as part of the first edition of the Black Summit to be held from March 10 to 13.
It will be an opportunity to pay tribute to our ancestors and recognize their contribution to the evolution of humanity, said Amos Cincir, the representative of the office of the youth organization for the United Nations of Africa in Haiti.
Amos Cincir believes that it is necessary to weave the links between the Haitian and African peoples in order to allow the young compatriots to benefit from the opportunities that come with it.
The rector of Quisqueya University, Professor Jacky Lumarque, looked back at the context of the independence of Haiti, the first black republic in the world. He praised the contribution of our ancestors for a free world, helping several peoples to conquer their independence.
Despite this contribution to the emancipation of some peoples, Haiti has been boycotted and continues to be boycotted by the international community with the complicity of corrupt national elites, regrets the professor.
Jacky Lumarque believes that the time has come for the elites to think about the recovery of the country by banishing exclusion.
He pleads for the continuity of the fight of the conscience, while making a return to our origins in order to build solid links for a better society.
Several former Haitian scholarship holders who have completed university studies in Benin and Senegal presented Africa as a land of opportunity for young Haitians.
This first edition of the Black Summit is held in Port-au-Prince and Jacmel. The different activities are taking place in person and online.
