Kémissa Trécile is one of the few women Disc Jockey (DJ) in Haiti and has several strings to her bow. She is both a professional DJ, lawyer and feminist leader.

Freshly awarded a prize called “Fanm nan Fanm” on March 8, 2022 by the firm Pascéus, rewarding remarkable women, the young lawyer of 33 years is easily identifiable by her bright complexion, her hats and her dexterity to handle docs and turntables to set the mood in festive parties.

DJ Kémissa has a well-shaped and full head and holds a degree in commercial law that she earned in France.

Upon her return to the country, after her studies, she began her career as a “DJ” in 2015 at the Karibe Hotel. Two years later, having gained experience, she became a professional Disc Jockey. The Top Friday show has something to do with it.

“It is through music that I communicate. For me, it is a language in its own right,” confides DJ Kemissa.

Since 2017, she works under the label “Au Top Kémissa”, according to Ms. Trécile who now lives from her profession of Disc Jockey (DJ).

The young woman says she wants to distinguish herself from other DJs and intends to offer an outstanding work throughout her career.

In addition, Kémissa Trécile says she regrets that there are no more women DJs in this predominantly male world. She reveals that she is often the target of sexist assaults”, in the exercise of her profession. With all these considerations in mind, the young DJ says she is determined to fight for more women in this male-dominated field.

DJ Kémissa, the activist

Kémissa Trécile is a young feminist leader who has founded an organization called Women Empowerment Movement (WEM) whose mission is to defend women’s rights. This young organization has just launched a campaign with the theme “Attention, Je Connais mes Droits”, in order to better educate young women, according to the young Disc Jokey.

She emphasizes, moreover, that her career as a DJ is intimately linked to her activism.

According to Kémissa Trécile, social injustice must be eradicated in favor of a better education for girls. The young Disc Jokey admits that she was strengthened in her convictions in this sense during her professional tours in certain areas of the country.

A happy childhood and great ambitions

Raised in the township of Delmas, Kémissa Trécile says she had a happy childhood.

The serene and friendly environment built by her grandmother, a teacher, allowed her to blossom very early and to associate with children of various social categories.

Born into a family of three children, including two boys, Kémissa says she still remembers the good times she had with her parents.

However, since she was a child, her aversion to injustice gave her the ambition to become a lawyer, so that she could help the weak.

Kémissa Trécile is proud to be a woman of many ambitions. She is increasingly making her mark on her generation, with a view to becoming a model woman.
