The final of the 71st edition of Miss Universe took place Saturday night in New Orleans in the state of Louisiana in the United States. It is the American R’Bonney Gabrielle who won the crown. She succeeds the Indian Harnaaz Sandhu. The Venezuelan Amanda Dudamel and the Dominican Andreina Martinez finished respectively First and Second runner-up.

Haiti managed to reach the top 16 out of 85 participating countries thanks to Mideline Phelizor. The 27-year-old model had already represented Haiti at Miss Supranational 2018 in Poland where she got the Top Model Caribbean award.

Haiti has once again managed to make a good impression in its 20th participation in the largest beauty contest in the world. Its representatives have been ranked 4 times in the top 16, namely in 1962, 1975, 2016 and in 2022. The Caribbean pearl has made the podium twice, in 1975 with Gerthie David elected second runner-up and in 2016 with Raquel Pelissier, first runner-up.

The latter has just congratulated Mideline Phelizor in a publication on social networks. “My compliments Mideline Phelizor!!! you were truly amazing!!! Thank you for placing Haiti on the map #top16 #Haitimakeshistory #missuniverse” she wrote.

Internet users also congratulated Mideline Phelizor for her performance.
